Bipolar (manic depression) How do you handle the depressive rocketing out into mania?
My roommate has become a "Rocket Man" with manic behavior and I am stuck here with his mania. As I am bipolar myself, I am aware of the symptoms, but don't know how to handle this guy.

- give him a smoke... and clean your room more often
- be like "dude, calm down. you're getting ready to completely lose your mind if you don't get off the rocket now."
- For years as you would know as you also have the condition, it can prove somewhat elusive to meds, otherwise apart from you leaving town, need I remind you " wait ".
If you don't like the weather, wait a minute !
- Sadly bipolar disorder has seem to become the cool and popular illness to suffer from. It is sad, since this very serious and very rare disorder is truely hell for those that have to live with it.
You said you are bipolar and he is bipolar, how did you two meet? The odds of two people who suffer from this illness becoming roommates is extremely low.
I am not sure what you mean by Rocket Man here. Since you also suffer from bipolar disorder you know that when a person is fully engulfed in a manic episode they feel as if they are the king of the world. Is your friend medicated, if not, you really needs to see a doctor so he can work on getting his moods stabalized. I am working on a support website for bipolar sufferers and would like you to contact me if you would about how you and your roommate get along and what your routines are like, I am very interested in this senerio. Thank you.
- Mania can be a very dangerous phase, and as for trying to control someone there - it is difficult.
Clearly if they are a friend then you need to watch out for them and try too stop them doing anything too dangerous or stupid.
Perhaps you can then talk when they are feeling better and ask them when it happens next time what they would like you to do for them.
