Rocket Helicopter

How can I learn to fly a helicopter in one day?

I work at a utility company and a few months back I "put my name in the hat" for a promotion to helicopter flight crew. They use the helicopters for high-voltage line maintenance. Anyway, the boss called me in the office yesterday and I nervously told him that I was a helicopter pilot in the Army. He gave me the job and my first flight is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. I've never even ridden in a helicopter.

  1. i hope your joking cause helicopters are extremely hard to fly and it takes months to learn, and it is very dangerous to try and learn by just trying it out
  2. Guess you'll have no job after tomorrow. Sorry, but it takes alot of time and then to even be qualified to fly any aircraft. Even Helicopters. I think you need to fess up, and maybe try to play it off and say you were pulling his leg. Save face at least.
  3. You are Screwed blued and tattooted!!! So before you are fired for lying on your application and killed trying to take off tell your boss the TRUTH!!!!!!!
  4. Bahahahaha! >_<

    Ask Osama.
  5. You sir, are a moron
  6. you can't sorry. unless you can find a private tooter. helicopter's are hard to learn an dtake patience.
  7. Yer skrood! Lying to get the job you want is gonna leave you jobless.
  8. Once your XXX hits the power line, it is all over. Make sure you sign up for extra health and death benefits ASAP.
  9. tonight...right now go to where they keep it and get in and push buttons until you manage to get it started. if you manage to do this try and get it in the air if you can do this they its all a case of learn or die trying. good luck to you. by the way what kind of flowers do you like?
  10. Youre gonna end up killing yourself and other people, or at the very least, make a gigantic fool of yourself. Tell the truth!! Its the easiest way out and anything you decide on youll probably end up losing your job anyways so why put people and yourself at risk. Flying a helicopter isnt like driving a car. You actaully have to know a lot of things about wind and air traffic and so many other things.
  11. Hey "CRASH" that will be your call word and written on your crash helmet some people can walk and chew gum at the same time imagine having to use your feet to adjust the pitch on the rear rotor to turn right and left and turn a throttle with one hand and pull up on the main rotor collective big blade pitch looking at engine temps torque meters talking on the radio and watching out not to run into those power lines ZAP! and some pilots of fixed wing planes never get the hang of Rotary Wing Aircraft, but there are naturals I hope your one of those
  12. You can join Neo and Trinity and get out of the matrix.
  13. better call in sick !!!! maybe a complete moron like you was the real cause of the 2003 major blackout. if you really need to learn fast, I'd suggest staying up all night with Microsoft flight Simulator, or you could try an X-Box game that uses helicopters. By the way, what country, area are you supposed to fly in, I wanna make sure that I'm at least 1000 miles away.

FYI. I looked up moron in the dictonary and it said....a guy who wants to learn to fly a helicoptor in one day.....wadda ya know , it's you............Fuckin Jerk !!!!
  14. It's not worth risking your life and the lives of everyone around the helicopter to try to fly one with no experience. I seriously dont think you find anyone crazy enough to attempt to teach you in a day,

However, to buy you some time, you can say you let your license go and that you need to get current. Anyone in aviation knows it takes a little time to get current again, and if all else fails, say you failed some part of the physical and can you still get on the crew but not as a flight critical member.
  15. You have to be joking!
  16. That was a pretty damn stupid thing to do. Lie to the boss. I hope he fires your ass for lying to him, you should be you dumb ass.
  17. Ok it's easy. Google "Helicopter" and write down all the big important sounding words on your forearm. Then casually drop a few of those when you're around your boss..then when it's time to fly, suit up and act like you know what you're doing..then when you get ito the helicopter, ask someone what MODEL the aircraft is..then say "Ohhh I was told it would be a ...." and add 7 digits to it..that way you can exit and say "this is TOTALLY DIFFERENT to the one I flew.." I'll need some time to learn to fly this particular model..

    Good Luck!
  18. First, you'll have to be put on the insurance; they will want copies of your licenses and logbooks. Second, if you don't have experience on the type of helicopter your company has, the insurance company will want you to be 'checked out' by and experienced pilot. If you have made it this far, its a miracle.

If you don't know how to properly start the thing, your results will vary from 'nothing happening' to toasting an engine worth a few hundred thousand dollars.

If you manage to beat all the odds and get the machine running, your brief helicopter pilot carear will probably look like this:

    Happy flying.
  19. if you try to fly it you will kill your self and every 1 else with plz plz don't try it
  20. A) If you're serious, don't worry. You'll never figure out how to start the engine.

    B) Good luck on your job hunt!
  21. I can only see one option for you. Stay up all night praying for two things. First that you are not going to lose your job when boss finds out, and second that you are not stupid enough to even consider attempting to pilot a chopper without being a certified, card carrying pilot. Flight school is an intensive 6 month of training and only the best of the best achieve pilot status.

Flying a fixed wing is a piece of cake compared to piloting a helo.

It required both hands and both feet and knowing what you are doing. You can put a regular aircraft on auto pilot, but you fly a chopper 100% of the time.

Man, you scare me and I am not afraid of anything.

    Darryl S.
  22. you are an idiot! sorry to be blunt.

A helicopter is the hardest thing to learn to fly.

Besides high voltage line maintenance is one of the most dangerous jobs, and that too holding a helicopter steady in high wind situation.

    quit your job.
  23. I can't believe so many people here actually take this question seriously enough to spend time answering. LMAO thanks for the points!

book into a holiday inn express tonight LOL
  24. according to Najina C, if you hire a tooter you'll be alright. but i highly suggest hiring a tutor.

the tooter is really light and easy all the time, and as good as it feels when you finally get to let him go after graduation, he generally smells.
  25. To be as stupid as you should be painful and debilitating!!!!!
  26. Riiiight. If you get it started, just yank up on the sick on your left (collective) really hard and push the stick in the middle (cyclic) as far forward as it will go. It's called natural selection. Should fix all of our problems.
